HFI rolls out two new ingredients

During the IFT FIRST Expo, held annually in Chicago, IL, Healthy Food Ingredients rolled out new ingredients, Milled Sunflower Kernel and IntegriPure® Milled Chia.

At its booth, HFI sampled recipes featuring the new ingredients including allergen-friendly energy bites, gluten-free keto bread, chia jam and breakfast cookies.

HFI’s milled sunflower kernel provides water absorption, gelling capacity and creates a strong dough structure, along with the emulsion capacity needed to stabilize water-oil molecules. Milled sunflower kernel is excellent for applications including breads, cookies and crackers.

 

 

Milled chia also boasts gelation and water absorption properties as well as a desirable mouthfeel. Utilized in a jam application, milled chia provides a clean label, better-for-you product, without the need for pectin or sugar. Milled chia is a great fit for many applications including energy bites and bars, smoothies and as an egg replacer in baking.
